From Russia With (Paper) Love

I hope everyone is having a great start to the week...
As you can see, Autumn is in her full glory here...
I am constantly in awe of this colorful miracle of nature.
With a chill in the air, I am thinking of the upcoming holidays...the entertaining, the gifts, the snow! :)
Are some of you in full-blown planning mode?
When it comes to giving presents, I have become more aware of my desire to gift handmade treasures.
Thanks to brilliant artists like Anita at Castles Crowns and Cottages, I have an increased appreciation for paper artistry. I try to create my own cards, but anything beyond this is still mysterious and challenging for me!
Enter my kind and talented niece-in-law, Maya....

Maya lives in Moscow, and to my delight and surprise, she has been busy creating these paper confections! I had no idea that she had this gift until I was introduced to her blog here. It is in Russian, but a translate tab should open up at the top, if you would like to visit.

They are all so beautiful! As I was admiring from afar, and wondering "How does she do that?", she surprised me with these treasures delivered to my doorstep....

An ornate, gorgeous little box....

A lovely holiday card....

A precious Birthday card...look at the sweet crochet work...

Stamped on the back in Russian
"Made With Love"
Indeed it was.

Thank you lovely Maya!

Have a beautiful day, dear friends!
xoxo

  2. Beautiful creations indeed, Irina. Handmade gifts are so much more special, aren't they.
I'm not thinking of the holidays yet because I'm savoring every sip and morsel of autumn, hoping that the clocks will slow down because it always goes by so fast, but they are approaching aren't they.
Thank you for sharing these with us.
    Much love,
    Marcia

  3. WOOOOOOOOOO! THIS IS NEW TO ME! I had NO idea that you had a niece in Russia, let alone that SHE TOO has the bug and creates in paper? I must go see her blog! That bird house, OH DEAR! And those baby shoes? It is such a joy to work with paper my dear. Maya is so talented for I still do not know how to make shoes that are closed in...it is NOT EASY and yet her little baby shoes could easily be mistaken for cloth!

Oh and thank you always, for your kind mention. I am snatching your link and putting your gorgeous painting on my sidebar! LOVE YOU! Anita

  20. Hi Irina,

You are getting SNOW? I have to say that I'm a tad bit jealous! We don't usually get a lot of snow around here.

I think I too went to the Dentist around the time of your daughter's first appt. I remember it was at least in Kindergarten and by that time I had so many cavities...haha...Speaking of the Dentist...I need to get in for a cleaning. I actually don't mind it. I know some people HATE going! (including my husband)...

I hope you are having a good weekend!
    Heidi
