Lovely Henrietta

This is my beautiful maternal Grandmother Henrietta...

She strikes a Glamorous pose, doesn't she?
My angelic Grandfather stands behind her.
This weekend, Henrietta would have celebrated her 84th Birthday.
One of the strongest women I have ever known, she was generous, willful, FEARLESS.

She lived without regrets, and with the utmost JOIE DE VIVRE!

As a little girl, I remember our trips to the Black Sea beaches...

We collected tiny pink seashells.
They had to be tiny, and they HAD to be pink!
Nothing else would do, for they were rare and oh so beautiful...

Her apple strudel was legendary.

As was her infectious laughter!

She LOVED to dance...

She LOVED to play...

She loved LIFE!

She gave so much. In her last few years, she volunteered tirelessly at inner city schools...

helping children READ.

I miss her every day...

but Love and Memories live FOREVER.

Thank you for letting me share my memories of one of the great women who helped make me who I am.

A beautiful week to all...

  2. Hello Irina:
This is such a beautiful tribute to your grandmother. Clearly a woman of many parts and strong character. One cannot help but admire people who are confident in themselves and are without fear in the pursuit of goals that they believe to be true and worthy. And, as you say, when one looks back on one's life it is interesting to note in how many ways such a person as your grandmother has contributed and moulded the personality which you have today. A marvellous role model!!!

  3. You have written an absolutely beautiful and heartfelt tribute to a beautiful woman. What a wonderful , meaningful life she had ...so inspiring.. All the love your grandma created is still there, because all the memories are still there . The simples truth: you live on - in the hearts of everyone you have touched and nurtured while you were here.

I am sending peace and love your way

  10. That's just beautiful. Everyone who has good memories of their grandparents is lucky! I had four wonderful grands, myself, and wouldn't be who I am without them.

P.s. So glad you decided to follow my blog - that's how I discovered yours and I love it!
