and I am so excited to be a part of it!

the love affair began when I was ten years old....
not with a "someone", but with a language
Pinterest
I first studied on my own....then at school...
with the goal of making it as easy to roll off my tongue,
as it was hearing it in my head....
and in time, I was able to say....
Pinterest
along with a great love for the French language, I was enamored with the City of Light as well.....dreaming, wishing, hoping....
Pinterest
that I may someday meet this great love of mine....
but for the time being, I would have to settle for this...
Pinterest
and these.....

I knew to hold tight to that dream...and five years later...
we met for the first time....
Pinterest
and it was love at first sight.....
Pinterest
pure BLISS.....
Pinterest
every little detail
was
SIMPLY IRRESISTIBLE

because the Parisians know....

Sigh...you and Anita are convincing me to change my Italian dreams to French ones instead. :) Not completely yet, but close, very close. ;)
ReplyDeleteStudied French in high school but that is as far as it went. I think the language is heavenly. Studied Italian in college and although I got an A, that is also as far as it went. We must live it. For now, English and Spanish will do, but I wonder if I should teach myself some French again. I do speak to myself at times, so why not, right? ;) Any recommendations...tapes maybe?
PS- "the pour trois son parfait!!!"
Bonjour Irina!!
ReplyDeleteOooo, so many lovely images here!!! And my favorite was the "Lips button" I want one of those!!!! I'm so impressed that tu parle Francais!!! [ Can't make that cidella thingy, nor can I spell it]. Of course, I CAN'T REALLY speak French, just un petit peu. But that doesn't stop me from Essayer-ing!!!
Have a wonderful time at the Paris Party, chérie!!
MWAH,
dawne
What a lovely post! I spent so many years learning French, as well...just the sound and feel of speaking those beautiful words! So nice to meet you here as we join each other on our own personal tours of Paris...
ReplyDeleteJulie
I am loving this blog post Irina! Gorgeous sentiments for such a romantic city, you've captured it all well.
ReplyDeleteI have posted up my blog for the link party too, feel free to have a look. I mentioned the Luxembourg gardens as used to hang out there in my youth with my French penpal.
I LOVE Paris and you've made me want to return ASAP! Sadly with two young children, it won't be for a while!!!
Irina,
ReplyDeleteOh how beautiful! Oui, we all adore Paris and have our love stories with her...aren't we lucky? Merci mon amie for your sweet comments on my post...and in answer to your question, ma famille is Quebecois, et je parle un petite peux...ma mere et ma soeur parle tres bien, from living there...however I drifted to Italia and spent more time on my italian. And now...I have not had time for travel, and am in fear of forgetting it all! But we will always hold it in our hearts, non?!
Gros bises,
Nathalie

Good morning dearest one. I have been "partying" into the late hours, but with so much joy in knowing there is NO SCHOOL ON MONDAY!!! THANK YOU for making this Paris party even more special, by writing about the language. There are so many sweet and diverse interpretations of peoples' experience or dreams with Paris that I am having SO MUCH FUN.
ReplyDeleteWell, here we are. The weekend. Ruben already wants to get started on organizing my "work space" in the basement so we can get this business expanded. New things, challenges and excitement coming and I hope to share more with you soon...here chez moi.
For now, OFF TO SEE MORE FUN LINKS!! Have a fantastic day, Anita
Dear Irina, once again we share together our love for this language and this city ! My mom actually infused this love by giving me the name of one of her favorite french singers Sylvie Vartan ...
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful of Anita to connect us all throught this " flight" to Paris
Have a romantic weekend!
Dreamy! Next time I would love to stay in that hotel so close to the tower. This year though My cottage is right out of town in the country, but I will meet you in the city for lunch. For now, come for coffee and dessert out in the country at My rented cottage.
ReplyDeleteIt is true... the first time in Paris is like love... it fulfills all your dreams of the place and so much more. Anita has inspired all of us to dream a dream of our own Paris's–– and I think that is the lesson. We all have our own versions in our hearts.
ReplyDeleteUne magnifique façon d'aimer Paris !
ReplyDeleteMarie-Ange
Yes, yes, yes! You have captured the essence of Paris perfectly. Bravo à vous! I am so very glad to have met you, Irina, thanks to Anita. One of my future dreams is to own a gypsy caravan (roulette here in France) so I was drawn to the delightful title of your blog.

You are so lucky to know the language and to have been to Paris! I took a couple of years of French in High School, but never enough to really carry on a conversation.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your Paris post!
Heidi
Oh, this is such a beautiful post!
ReplyDeleteI loved this idea our wonderful Anita had...so inspiring! It seems as though anything she touches turns to gold, doesn't it? What a magical person she is. I just adore her!
Thank you for leaving such a beautiful comment on my "Tribute to Francesca". You have no idea how much it means to me...
I wanted to do something special for Francesca since she is graduating on Friday. We are SO PROUD of her!! I've even included her boyfriend ;) in the tribute since he's such a huge part of her life and I know it will make her feel extra special. We all know once they go to college, things have a way of changing.. He's a lovely boy, though, and i'm sure this will make him happy to see I've included him, as well (don't you love the application to date my daughter?? LOL)
I'm sure this will be a week of wonderful memories for my family. Sunday is Francesca's graduation party--close to 100 guests. I have my work cut out for me, that's for sure!
Thank you, again, for stopping by, my friend. Whenever I see your comments, it just makes my day, Irina!
I honestly think this is the year we three ;) will get together~ Just wait and see.....
Huge hugs and much love to you! Have a beautiful week...
